Five exercise 'snacks' you can do even when you have zero free time

Trying to carve out 30-60 minutes in your day for a workout can feel like an impossible task, especially if you're a parent. Letting go of that expectation and instead aiming for daily movement (however brief) is a much better way to set yourself up for success.


Here's five exercises that you can fit in with your existing day, without any equipment needed.

Fitness at Home

Calf Raises
A great one to do while you're brushing your teeth - when you can easily fit in three sets of 10 reps. Or walk and talk the next time you get a phonecall and intermittently do a set of 10. 


Sitting down? Stand up - then sit down - and stand up again... you get the idea.Try to not sit all the way down, and instead just touch the chair and then stand straight back up. 


Push Ups
You can do a push up anywhere - on the wall, on a chair, on the couch, on the edge of the bed. The closer to the ground you are the harder it is. Pick somethign that's at a height which is managable, but not too easy for you. Then every time you walk past it - just do one or two.  


Glute Bridge & Tricep Dips
A couple you can do while watching TV in the evening. 

Glute Bridge: Lay on the floor with your feet elevated on the couch, or an ottoman. Lift your hips towards the ceiling, then lower towards the floor. Aim for three sets of 10.

Tricep Dips: Sit on the edge of the couch with your hands beside you, elbows facing away from you. Lower towards the floor and return to the couch. Make this harder by walking your feet further away from you.
